What caused him to say that? Well, when describing all the work that goes into creating and making puppets come alive in New York Magazine’s Vulture, it says:

“By allowing for the erasure of puppeteers, green screen also proved useful in creating puppet characters that couldn’t be realized in the original film, like Lore, a pile of animated rocks that has a special place in Brian Froud’s heart.

Brian and Toby Froud break down the design of the 7 Gelfling Clans

Like for the 1982 Dark Crystal film, Brian Froud is the creature designer on Netflix’s prequel series “Age of Resistance” and now with his son Toby Froud , senior costume & creature supervisor .

In this excerpt from IndieWire they give us some insight into their Gelfling designs:

Brian Froud only had to conceive of two Gelfling for the movie — the dark-haired Jen and the platinum-blonde Kira — but in the prequel series, he has a whole race of Gelfling to tackle and define within their respective clans.
